Black Block - Rubber Activator

Black Block, Rubber Activator

A handmade wood-and-rubber activator for bringing tuning forks into resonance. Its simple form provides a dedicated surface for the gesture that begins a tone.

The activation gesture

The rubber edge meets the outer edge of a tuning-fork tine around its middle. Begin gently and adjust the gesture to the particular fork, listening for a clear resonance rather than relying on force.
